How to plan your wedding in 3 months or less
Today we are featuring a guest blog post by Akanksha Agarwal of WedMeGood.
3 months or less. Sounds unbelievable, definitely stressful and kinda impossible right ? Wrong. We’re telling you it CAN be done with a little thoughtful planning and some help from resources near you. We’re also telling you exactly how :
- Focus on the big tasks – We know, we know everybody tells us that photographers and venues have to be booked 6 months in advance but just hear us out. First and foremost, hash out the numbers like your wedding budget, number of guests and wedding date. The first item on your agenda should be booking the venue. Go for non-traditional ones like Kingdom of Dreams in Gurugram, resorts near Jim Corbett etc. Sometimes venues provide onsite services like decorations, catering and entertainment. You can opt for combo deals.
You can find list of wedding venues online with their prices, availability and location. Just filter them down by your preferred location and you are done. For eg: If you are getting married in Delhi, you can search banquet halls in Chattarpur, South Delhi, EastDelhi, NorthDelhi, or any locality in Delhi or any other city in India at WedMeGood.
- Invitations – Considering the time it takes to design / personalize an invite, it is a good idea to choose from the existing ones. Don’t forget to proofread them before printing them out and sending them.
- Jewelry + Bridal outfits – ALWAYS purchase the jewelry before your outfit. Jewelry is a bigger investment and something you’ll wear for years and even pass on to your kids. Its also easier to modify clothes to complement your jewels. Have a look at collections online and visit multi brand stores like Aza and Ogaan for your trousseau.
- Other vendors – When it comes to hiring other vendors, make sure you prioritize. The ones that should be on top of this list are your Photographer, Videographer and Makeup artist. Most of them respond promptly to e-mails so you can quickly ask them if they’re free on your wedding day.
- Be tech savvy – Book the mehendi artist online, order wedding favors, floral / gota jewelry, create a Save The Date e-card on websites like Canva etc. Wedding planning Apps like WedMeGood come in handy while doing research and booking vendors online.
- Involve your fiancé – Given the paucity of time, it is better to have your own personal sounding board during the planning stage. And what better person for this job, than the man you’re going to spend the rest of your life with ?
- Enlist help from cousins / friends – Your sister can choreograph sangeet performances and do DIY decorations for smaller functions like mehendi. Your brother can communicate + coordinate with caterers, decorators and pandit ji. Your best friend can carry your bridal emergency kit and phone to screen calls and solve matters that crop up at the last minute.
- Back up – It is important to have a Plan B. For example an indoor venue for when it rains, an extra pair of heels just in case etc. Always have back up options
- Hire a professional – If things don’t seem to be working out, hire a wedding planner. They’re professionals for a reason. They have experience and knowledge that could make things very very easy for you.
Most importantly, remember that this day is not about the exact colour of roses on the mandap or the same signboard you saw on Pinterest. It is about you, your main man and your family / friends celebrating this special day. Don’t go on Bridezilla mode for teeny tiny details and make sure you have fun !

I didn’t know that booking a venue was the first thing to do. It seems my sister hasn’t taken this advice since she doesn’t have a venue. She gets married next month.
