Featured Wedding of Mallika and Adam: Ceremony
This is a continuation of three part series of Mallika and Adam’s Wedding. In the last post we featured the Getting Ready pictures, and this post will focus on their wedding ceremony.
Mallika and Adam’s wedding took place at the Adam’s Morgan Mansion in Washington, DC. As they had both met in college in DC, it seemed only fitting to host their wedding less than a mile away! The venue was lined with windows, which brought an amazing atmosphere to the event.
They infused Indian & American cultures and also their personalities in their wedding. The decorator took traditional red, white & gold and found ways to make it look modern. This included using crystals and a variety of flowers with the traditional colors in their mandap & bouquets. They used a loveseat on their mandap rather than two separate chairs, to give a more intimate feel.
Mallika and Adam’s wedding officiate, Srimati Kamalaji of the Gandhi Center, helped explain the Hindu ceremony. While Mallika & Adam then exchanged their own vows, they had asked their guests to submit vows that they could read to each other at the event. Mallika and Adam had no idea what these vows were beforehand, but read them after their ceremony. These vows were a great way for their guests to participate in the ceremony and many were extremely humorous!
